September 12th, 2015 could be one of the most memorable dates in Arkansas State football history. Not only will A-State bring in the back to back reining SEC East Champions to the “vault” but will show off it’s MAJOR upgrades to the stadium. This game will let the fans and media of A-State to enjoy the brand new state-of-the-art press box for the first time. The press box already gives the stadium a new look, and will look even better when this game approaches. In addition to the press box, the fans will see the AWESOME indoor practice facility just north of Centennial Bank Stadium. Now let’s switch gears and actually talk about the game. This game will be the second game for both teams entering September 12th. In week one, Missouri will host Southeast Missouri State and will MOST LIKLEY come into Jonesboro with a 1-0 record. Meanwhile, A-State has a little harder opponent in week 1 (sarcastic) in playing the USC Trojans at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Trojans will probably be ranked in the Top 10 when the Red Wolves have the great fortune of opening up with them. We never know what can happen, but it’s going to take A-State playing the perfect game to knock off the Trojans. So most likely, the Red Wolves will be looking for their first win of the 2015 season when they welcome in the Tigers on September 12th. To me, that will give A-State more motivation when they face Missouri. I can’t tell you the outcome of this game, but I know this will be an electric atmosphere. The last time Arkansas State has hosted an SEC opponent was in 2001, when Ole Miss came to Jonesboro. The final score of that game was 35-17 in favor of the Rebels. Let’s hope this go around against in SEC foe goes a little better. It wouldn’t surprise me if this game would feature more fans to ever watch a game in the stadium’s history. Win or lose on the field, it will be a “win” for the Jonesboro community when the Tigers come to town.
