Arkansas State came out fast and furious against ULL and maintained a high octane offense throughout the game to lead Arkansas State to an 87-65 victory over ULL to improve their overall record to 21-9 (16-4). The 21st win on the season gave Arkansas State a share of the overall record for most wins during the regular season. Boyer stated that 21 wins in the regular season in a big deal. The game has changed overtime and 21 wins present day to him is more impressive than what it used to be.  ULL gave a good effort, but Arkansas State was not going to be denied on senior night that saw Jasmine Hunt and Hanna Qedan suit up for the last time in an Arkansas State uniform at the convocation center. Qedan credited the effort to wanting revenge against ULL while closing out the regular season at home.

The game went as perfect as it could go for Jasmine Hunt. Jasmine was on fire the entire game and finished with a perfect shooting percentage from the field as well as the free throw line. Jasmine Hunt scored 21 points on 8-8 shooting from the field and 5-5 from the line to tie the shooting percentage record for Arkansas State. Hunt said that it felt great to make every shot and that she knew she just had to believe in herself. Hunt was a physical force down low all night and with the size mismatch she had over ULL exposed the smaller front court of the Rajun Cajuns and imposed her will. Hunt also pulled down 7 rebounds and exited at the end of the game to a roaring ovation from fans showing their appreciation for 4 great years.

Hanna Qedan had an impressive game in her own right. Qedan scored in double figures and is closing in on 1,000 for her career. Qedan put up 13 points for the Red Wolves, was a perfect 4-4 from the foul line, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and had a block. Like Hunt, the fans showed their appreciation for Qedan as she exited with a standing ovation.

Arkansas State shot an impressive 54% from the field for the game on 31-57 shooting. The Red Wolves outrebounded the Rajun Cajuns 38-33, had 8 more assists, and 2 more blocks. Arkansas State scored 40 points in the paint, 19 off points off turnovers, 6 second chance points, 4 fast break points, and had 20 off of the bench.

What’s next for the Red Wolves? They hope to come out with victories in three games during the Sun Belt tournament that kicks off for them in New Orleans Wednesday at 5:00 against App State. If the Red Wolves win the tournament they’ll go into the NCAA tournament with 24 wins and will be only 1 win away from tying a school record of 25 on the year for the most wins during a season.
