JONESBORO, Ark. (8/11/14) – Arkansas State head baseball coach Tommy Raffo has announced the addition of Collin Nord to the roster for the upcoming season.
A native of Aberdeen, Wash., Nord is coming to A-State after spending a season Yakima Valley Community College as a starting pitcher. The 6-foot-5, left-handed hurler went 3-6 and fanned 64 for the Yaks in 2014. He went a season-high 8.1 innings against Treasure Valley on April 16 and yielded three runs on five hits to earn the victory. He also started the Yaks’ final game of the year in the East Region Tournament against Columbia Basin and gave up just two runs with three strikeouts.
“Collin is a big, physical pitcher that we are extremely excited to have join the Red Wolves baseball program,” Raffo said. “His desire to compete at a high level in the Sun Belt matches his talent on the mound. CoachTighe Dickinson sees him impacting our pitching staff immediately.”
Nord was second in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges with a 1.71 ERA and his strikeout total of 64 also ranked second. He tied for the league with 13 starts and gave up the second fewest runs among pitchers with at least 10 starts on the year.
Nord joins Zachary Patterson, Timothy Seldomridge, Jeremy Brown, Daniel Jurney and Brett Andersen as part of the 2015 signing class.
